This visualizer is an unofficial resource built from publicly available data. Its purpose is to help citizens better understand how the borough budget works and encourage further exploration of primary sources.

The Borough of Kutztown publishes its annual budget on its website in PDF form. To create this visualizer, we parsed the PDF data into the Master Municipal Revenues and Expenses Spreadsheet [spreadsheet download], which serves as the source for the figures shown here.

Bear in mind that the categories below are based on the Borough’s budgeting categories. For example, Police General expenses are about $2.60M, but does not include the categories Police Vehicles, Headquarters, and Training. All the categories together nudge the Borough’s cost of policing closer to $2.67M.
