Kutztown Crime Visualizer (January 1-April 30, 2026)
This visualizer is an unofficial resource built from publicly available incident data. Its purpose is to help residents, students, and other community members better understand what kinds of incidents are reported in Kutztown and where those incidents tend to appear.
The incident data comes from CrimeMapping.com, which is linked as a crime map resource from the official Kutztown Police Department website.
For this visualizer, we reviewed incidents listed within two miles of Kutztown from Jan. 1 to Apr. 30, 2026, then organized them into a searchable spreadsheet and interactive chart format. Nearly all listed incidents were attributed to the Kutztown Police Department, with two assault-related records attributed to the Berks County District Attorney.
To make the data easier to read, this visualizer groups certain low-level public-order offenses together, including drunkenness, liquor law violations, disorderly conduct, vandalism, marijuana possession, and other possession-related incidents. These are labeled as public-order / college-adjacent incidents because they often reflect the everyday enforcement patterns of a small college town.
Other incident types are kept separate, including theft/property offenses, fraud, DUI, assault, and weapons-related incidents. This makes it easier to distinguish between quality-of-life enforcement, property-related incidents, and more serious public safety concerns.
Bear in mind that these categories are interpretive, not official legal categories. The original descriptions shown in the incident table come from the CrimeMapping data itself, while the grouped categories were added by Kutzeschteddel to help readers explore broader patterns.
To explore the data, try filtering by category, month, original incident description, or location. You can also use the search bar to look up specific terms such as “Main,” “Noble,” “liquor,” “theft,” “DUI,” or “Normal Ave.”
One final note: Always consult official police records, court records, or CrimeMapping.com directly when making important decisions, conducting formal research, or publishing claims based on crime incident data. This visualizer is meant to support public understanding, not replace primary sources.
