Kutztown Property Assessment Map & Visualizer (2026)
This visualizer is an unofficial resource built from publicly available Berks County CAMA property assessment data. Its purpose is to make Kutztown property records easier to explore, compare, and understand in map, table, and filter form.
CAMA stands for Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal. In plain English, it is the structured property assessment database used by county assessment offices to organize parcel-level information.
To create this visualizer, we used the Berks County assessment export for properties listed within Tax District 55, which corresponds to Kutztown Borough. We then organized the data into a searchable spreadsheet [spreadsheet download]. The app reads from that spreadsheet and allows users to filter properties by value, acreage, property class, homestead status, and search terms.
A parcel is a legally identified piece of land in the county assessment system. Each parcel has its own parcel ID, which allows the county to track the property for assessment and tax purposes. A parcel may contain a home, apartment building, business, institution, vacant lot, utility property, or another type of land use.
The values shown here are tax-assessed values, not necessarily current market values or sale prices. Tax-assessed value is the value assigned by the county for property tax purposes. It may differ significantly from what a property would sell for on the open market.
The visualizer separates several major value fields:
- Total Value refers to the assessed land value listed in the CAMA data. This reflects the assessment value assigned to the land itself.
- Building Value refers to the assessed value assigned to structures on the parcel, such as homes, apartment buildings, commercial buildings, garages, or other improvements.
- Total Property Value combines the land and building assessments into the full assessed value for the parcel.
- Homestead Act shows whether a property appears to have homestead status in the assessment data. For simplicity, this visualizer displays homestead status as Y or N rather than showing the acceptance date or underlying administrative field.
- Property Class groups parcels by the county’s classification codes. For example, R refers to residential properties, A refers to apartments, C refers to commercial properties, E refers to tax-exempt properties, and I refers to industrial properties.
The map is generated from the address fields included in the spreadsheet. Because this data does not include official parcel boundary shapes, the map markers should be treated as approximate address-based points, not legal property boundaries.
One final note: This visualizer is meant for civic exploration, local research, and public understanding. Always consult official Berks County assessment records before making legal, financial, tax, real estate, or formal research claims based on property data.
